These terms cover booking Mica's Shack ("we", "us", Mica) for private dinners, catering, cooking classes and other events, and using this website. By confirming a booking, you agree to them.
1. What we do
Mica cooks sushi and Japanese food, plant-based vegan menus and Argentine parrilla at your home or venue, in Miami and, by arrangement, elsewhere in the US. Every menu is quoted for your event: the number of guests, the dishes, the ingredients and any travel.
2. Requests and quotes
A request sent through this site is not yet a booking. Mica replies, usually within 24 hours, to agree the menu, guest count and price. Your date is booked once you accept the quote in writing (email or text) and pay any deposit asked for.
3. Deposits and payment
A deposit may be asked for to hold your date and buy ingredients. It is part of the price, not an extra charge. The balance is due on the day unless the quote says otherwise. Payments by card or PayPal are handled by those providers; we never see your full card number.
4. Changes and cancellations
Final guest numbers and dietary needs are due 72 hours before the event. Small changes after that are fine where the ingredients allow. If you cancel more than 7 days before the event, the deposit is refunded in full. Inside 7 days, the deposit covers ingredients already bought and time already given, and is refunded only in part or not at all, depending on what has been spent; we will tell you which. If we have to cancel (illness, an emergency), you choose between a new date and a full refund.
5. Allergies and dietary needs
Tell us about every allergy and dietary need when you book, and again with the final numbers. We plan the menu around them and take care in preparation, but food is cooked in kitchens and at venues that also handle common allergens (including fish, shellfish, soy, sesame, gluten, nuts, dairy and eggs), so we cannot promise any dish is completely free of them. Raw and lightly cooked fish and meat are served at your choice; eating them carries a higher risk of foodborne illness, especially for pregnant guests, young children and people with weakened immunity.
6. Your venue
Please give us safe access, a working kitchen or cooking space as agreed in the quote, and, for parrilla, a place where a live fire is allowed. If the venue turns out to be unsafe or not as described, we may change the menu or how it is served.
7. Photos
We may photograph the food and table for our portfolio and social media. We only show guests with their permission. Ask us and we will leave your event out.
8. This website
The content, photos and design of this site belong to us or are used under licence (see Credits). Do not copy them for commercial use without permission. Menus and prices on the site are a guide; your written quote is what applies.
9. Liability
To the extent Florida law allows, our liability for any claim about an event is limited to the price you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for negligence causing personal injury.
10. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida. If something goes wrong, please talk to us first; most things can be put right quickly. Any dispute that cannot be resolved goes to the courts of Miami-Dade County, Florida.
